ABOUT US

The Duffield Daze Festival is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1981 by Kenny Fannon in order to:
• To give back to the Duffield community and surrounding area by hosting a safe, family-friendly free event that raises awareness for working together and supporting our area businesses.
• Provide the residents and visitors with admission-free access to Southern Appalachian music, dance, crafts, and activities for all ages.

Duffield Daze originally began as a parade on Labor Day weekend in 1982. It is the county’s largest parade and has grown into a weekend-long festival. The event is located in the Duffield Industrial Park with most activities centered in the field beside the Pioneer Center.

Thousands flock to Duffield to enjoy all kinds of music and outdoor activities. It kicks off on Friday night with the Music and Street Dance at Food Country. On Saturday, the 5K Road Race starts at 7:00 a.m. and activities last all day until midnight. There are all kinds of music, the parade, tractor pulls, hit and miss engine demonstrations, antiques, animal shows, crafts, food vendors, duck race, and loads of games for adults and children. On Sunday, Duffield Daze gets underway with old time gospel music. Papa Joe Smiddy Mountain Music Festival starts later in the afternoon at Natural Tunnel Amphitheater.

This festival showcases the rich cultural history in Virginia’s smallest town. It has become a huge phenomenon with adults and children.
